Issaku Kuradashi Sencha - Green Tea with 22K Gold Flakes

Ignore the label! When I designed the label, I, for some odd reason, was thinking 24 karat gold. However, after receiving the tea & looking at the description again, I stand corrected. The inventory is limited with this tea, so I'll just ride with the mistake & it'll be our little secret. In the nature of Japanese philosophy, it makes me think of kintsugi. The gold flakes that are blended with the tea are in fact 22 karat gold.

Now that the elephant in the room has been pointed out, let's talk about the tea! This tea is a treat & a true gem among senchas. Grown from the Kuradashi tea trees by the acclaimed Japanese tea farmer, Issaku. The leaves from these award-winning trees were processed into the most popular Japanese tea, sencha. Sencha is a Japanese green tea that is steamed, rolled, & then dried rather than powdered like matcha. This particular tea has a beautiful umami flavor with a vegetal & herby taste on the backend. Truly a magnificent tea to share with friends & family. The 22 karat gold flakes that are added to the tea don't bring any particular benefit or taste; however, you can't have an award-winning tea without showing off the gold! Plus, kinpaku-cha (gilded tea) is a great tea to share with guests on the New Year.
